Sonny

Fospice

When Sonny was five months old he began to have trouble walking and was unsteady on his feet. He was diagnosed with cervical spondylomyelopathy, commonly known as wobblers syndrome. Over the next couple of months Sonny’s condition deteriorated rapidly. In February of 2022, Sonny was eight months old, his family asked Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue for help. Once in our care additional tests were done and Sonny was diagnosed with Meningeal Fibrosis.(Fibrous tissue growing around the spinal cord in the C2 vertebrae ) If left untreated Sonny would most likely have full paralysis before he was two. Sonny was a candidate for surgery, the three possible outcomes, he would have some improvement, there could be no improvement but either way the tissue would grow back in a year or two or he could be worse. The surgery was to be done as his mobility decreased.

That day has not come, Sonny has just turned three and has better movement now than he did then.
