Cooper

Medical Hold

Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue welcomed five-year-old Cooper in mid-April. He had been surrendered to a shelter when his family lost their home. He was not in great shape; he had kennel cough; a highly contagious respiratory condition in dogs. It is caused by a combination of viruses and bacteria, primary Bordetella bronchiectasis bacterium. Symptoms include a persistent cough, sneezing, runny nose, and sometimes fever. Treatment typically involves rest, hydration, and in some cases, antibiotics or cough suppressant, and had begun taking an antibiotic, `was under weight and his back legs were weak. A few days after he arrived, he became lethargic and had bloody discharge from his nose. He required additional medications and after several days he was fully recovered from the kennel cough. Cooper is a picky eater but has gained a couple of pounds.

Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue is a foster based, all volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to rescuing neglected and abandoned Dogue de Bordeaux, rehabilitating and re-homing them into loving forever homes in the continental United States.
