Hank
Fospice
- AGE: adult
- GENDER: male
- LOCATION: Virginia
In the summer of 2024 a family found Hank alone on the highway. Hank was a stray and clearly on his own for a while. After a couple of months the family asked Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue for help rehoming him. Frank arrived in early December a very lean 108 pounds, with sores and bare spots all over his body. Hank is in early the stages of kidney failure. He has cysts on both kidneys, the problem is most likely genetic or a birth defect. There is no way to remove the cysts and no cure for his condition. He is taking medication (if you hide them in cheese) a probiotic and a special diet.
We estimate Hank to be six to eight years old, a senior for the Dogue de Bordeaux breed. He is adapting to his home and has become a member of the family. Hank is very curious, he must sniff every drawer, cabinet and bag to see what might be in there. He enjoys being outdoors exploring the yard with his dog siblings. He loves a car ride but his ultimate favorite activity is destroying plush toys and removing the squeaker. If he hears a squeaker anywhere in the house he will search until he finds it.
Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue is a foster based, all volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to rescuing neglected and abandoned Dogue de Bordeaux, rehabilitating and re-homing them into loving forever homes in the continental United States.
