Caroline, a long term hospice dog has passed away. She was loved and well cared for by her volunteer foster family, our thoughts are with them.
Here is a note from her family-
Caroline came into DDBR from Pima Animal Care on April 6, 2023. She was 20+ pounds underweight, scared, but trusting, and such a sweet face that everyone fell in love with her. She endured a busy medical path the next 8 months: first, she underwent heart worm disease treatment; then we began the Valley Fever medication; nothing could be done about the 5/6 heart murmur but she had no ailments or restrictions; she survived a spay/mastectomy surgery with no issues; and we finished 2023 with a dental cleaning. Her next two years she continued to deal with Valley Fever and skin issues, but she always had time to Zen in the yard, enjoy quiet moments on the pool Baja deck, wrestle with her dog-mates, and tolerate the kitty cuddles. Caroline grew to love car rides and small hikes in the desert. I also credit Caroline for putting my big male DDB in his place and teaching him emotional control as he navigated his own issues, nothing like a great momma dog for bringing order to a home! For last 10 months of her life Caroline was an excellent nanny and caretaker of our Boxer pup, and put up with his antics that kept her active and happy. Caroline succumbed to T cell lymphoma on July 11, 2026; she will be forever remembered as a dog with a smile on her face, a constantly wagging tail, and the greatest little jog trot.
