Safi

Update 2/2/2020

Safi has passed away. She was in kidney failure and we could not let her suffer. Her foster mom said she had the best personality and anyone that met her fell in love with her sweetness.

Update 4/11/19

Safi has been with us since August 2018. She has gained weight, she no longer has ear infections or eye infections and we have cleared her of heartworm. We recently did her pre-spay blood work and couldn’t be more devastated on the outcome – Safi has been diagnosed with CKD – Chronic Kidney Disease. There is no cure for CKD – we can only manage symptoms and perhaps slow down the progression but that may not even be possible. She will need to be on a very strict diet of prescription dog food. She will need to have periodic urine and blood testing. Cost of her vetting to date has been around $1,700.00. With her need for monitoring and prescription dog food the cost will continue to rise. Safi will be staying in her current foster home for whatever time she has. She will continue to be loved and taken care of and we will do what it takes to keep her comfortable.

Intake August 2018

We pulled Safi out of a shelter in VA and got her transported to her foster home in Wharton NJ. Safi is around 4-6 years old, super sweet, but has many health issues. She is heartworm positive, has horrible skin, bilateral ear infections and eye infections from entropian. Safi is also very underweight and we were not able to get her spayed yet as she came into rescue in season.
