Maggie

Adopted

Maggie is two years old, very smart and extremely sweet. She is petite but underweight at sixty pounds.

Eight months ago Maggie was sold on Craig’s List, for $100. Maggie arrived sick with chronic bloody diarrhea, a sever hook worm infestation, heartworm positive, sever hip dysplasia and was underweight.  She showed signs of being abused.

Maggie’s new family had her treated for hook worms and had tried to resolve the chronic bloody diarrhea with a limited diet, probiotics and steroids. She had a prolapsed rectum twice. Nothing was helping and Maggie needed surgery so her tissue could be biopsied. Maggie’s family was out of resources and asked for our help.

Maggie was very sick and she spent two weeks at the vet clinic. She had surgery and was diagnosed with inflammation. She continued on steroids for a couple more weeks, she had new prescription food and took a GI paste. Maggie started to get better and for the last month  her bowls are normal. She continues to take probiotics with meals  and now eats a regular food.

Once Maggie gains some weight and recovers she will begin her heart worm treatment.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed. Completed application, vet reference and a home check required. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. For additional information please email pam@ddbrescue.org
