Caroline

Fospice

We picked Carolina up from a Tucson shelter in early April of 2023. The shelter believed Caroline was about six years old, she had been used for breeding and came to the shelter with a running nose and swelling on her left hind foot. She had severe bridging spondylosis throughout thoracic and lumbar spine. She was severely underweight – at just 80 pounds and had a body score of 3/9. She also had a distended stomach, bleed when she sneezed and was stiff moving.
Caroline needed several teeth extracted was diagnosed with a 5/6 heart murmur, was heartworm positive, had a fungal infection valley fever, also known as coccidioidomycosis.
By August Caroline finished her heartworm treatment. Her weight was up to 94 pounds. Her Valley Fever test, also known as a Cocci test, that checks the blood for antibodies to the fungus that causes Valley Fever came back 1:8. Her test in February had been 1:8
When tested in August of 2024 and January of 2025 her test came back 1:4. Her medication was reduced in January of 2025. She will have another test in April and if her ratio is maintained she will be able to stop taking the medication and then be retested in three more months.

All our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed. Completed application, vet reference and a home check required. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. For additional information please email us info@ddbrescue.org
Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue is a foster based, all volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to rescuing neglected and abandoned Dogue de Bordeaux, rehabilitating and re-homing them into loving forever homes in the continental United States.
