Ollie
- AGE: young
- GENDER: male
- LOCATION: Illinois
We introduced you to Ollie in mid-September of 2024, he was fourteen weeks old. Ollie was surrendered from a commercial breeder after he was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called sub-aortic stenosis, which is a narrowing of the aortic valve opening. This causes resistance to blood flow through the heart and the heart must work harder to compensate. Ollies case is severe and is expected to worsen over the first year of his life. He is currently on a daily medication that reduces how hard his heart is working, and exercise restriction is required to avoid potentially fatal heart arrhythmias.
Ollie was seen be a second cardiologist in mid-October and there is nothing they can do for him. Sadly he could pass away tomorrow but they cardiologist said he will not live past the age of two. Likely he will begin fainting and one time he just won’t recover. We will love this sweet boy every minute we can for as long as we can. Ollie will continue living with his foster family until his passes on his own or he does not have a good quality of life.
We are extremely grateful for his foster family for opening their home and their hearts to Ollie. Ollie has three other dogs in his home, one is a Frenchie and Ollie loves to play with.. Ollie has received a nick name from a three year old that visits him, it’s the best name ever, Macaroni Truck.
All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed. Completed application, vet reference and a home check required. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. For additional information please email pam@ddbrescue.org
Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue is a foster based, all volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to rescuing neglected and abandoned Dogue de Bordeaux, rehabilitating and re-homing them into loving forever homes in the continental United States.
