Penny in MI

Update 1-28-2020

Penny in Michigan had her spay today. She had multiple ovarian cysts and sever endometriosis. The poor girl had to not be feeling well. After a couple weeks of recovery she will be ready to be adopted. She is a great girl, just 15 months old. She loves to be outside & especially loves water – mixed with dirt or in the shower. She is still in a puppy stage & can’t have soft toys. She will need on going care including to be on specific supplements for life and will need ongoing chiropractic every 6-8 weeks (more if she hurts herself). She loves to cuddle & to play, but is pushy with other dogs so would need a truly submissive housemate. She would also do best in an adult household or one with children over 13.

Penny has just had her first birthday. The poor pup that could barely walk is now strong enough to counter surf. (That’s both good and bad) She is now going three weeks between chiropractic treatments and thriving. Her vet care has been $2,500. Thank you to those that have donated to her care.

Nine month old Penny was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and was suffering. Her movement was limited and she was in pain. Her family could do afford the expensive surgery and felt the best thing was to have Penny put to sleep. After seeing how Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue helped Navarre in Florida with his hip surgery, Penny’s family contacted us to see if we could also help Penny. We have started her on the pain medications gabapentin,Tramadol and meloxcicam. After consulting veterinarians surgery is not the answer. Penny has no right hip socket, her back left leg is an inch longer than her right back leg, she has spondylitis, arthritis in both hocks, knees and hips. Penny will begin stem cell therapy and chiropractic care this week followed up with hydro therapy. While she does not need a $6000 surgery her care will be at least $3000. Donations are needed for her care.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed. Completed application and reference/home check required. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. For additional info on any of the dogs in this region, please email
