Opie in MN

Opie has been adopted!!!!

There is a new kid in town! Opie arrived at his foster home in Southern Minnesota.  Opie was found as a stray in central Iowa. Animal Control tried for over a week to pick him up but each time someone called to say he was running loose he was gone when they arrived. Iowa in December is not where you would want to be a stray dog. The average temp is 15-30 degrees Fahrenheit.

When he arrived to the shelter he was feed, he was very hungry after being on his own for a week or more, kept warm and given compassion. Opie has a large healed cut on his ear, a fresh wound on his other ear and several scars on his head, face, ears and legs. He also has several healed cuts with scabs. He was not wearing a collar and had no micro chip. In attempt to find his owner the shelter posted his video on Facebook and he received over 33k views but no one knew who he was. The shelter feels he was most likely dumped once his owner no longer wanted him. After his 7 day stray hold was up Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue was asked to help Opie find his forever home. Opie was a staff favorite at the shelter due to his charming personality and gentle kisses.

Opie is a 1-2 year old male,  weighs approx 70 pounds. He should gain about 10 pounds to be a healthy weight. Opie is good with other dogs. Kids and cats are unknown. He walks okay on a leash and has nice house manners. He loves squeaky toys and playing in the snow.

Opie has been fully vetted and is heart worm negative. If you think you may be the perfect forever home for one of our rescue dogues, please complete our on line adoption application www.ddbrescue.org. If you have any questions about this dogue, please contact Pamela at pamelacortese@yahoo.com.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed. Completed application and reference/home check required. Standard adoption fee is $450 applies to all of our rescues. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them
