Goliath in Nevada

March 2014, Goliath passed at the age of 8 from his massive heart conditions. All of us at DDBR, especially his foster moms are devastated over his loss.

Goliath came to us with Princess in June 2012, they were in rough shape, really skinny, horrible coats. Seems their owner could no longer keep them as they kept getting out of the yard, so they surrendered them to a shelter in Washington State. They came into Rescue. Upon vetting them, we discovered that Goliath had a pretty severe heart issue. Not only does he have Sub Aortic Stenosis (grade 6 of 6), he also has Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia, Mitral Valve Dysplasia and Dilated Cardio Myopathy. Through talking with the former owner, we were given his pedigree, so have sent his cardio work up off to OFFA and for the breeds heart study.

Goliath then went to another foster for Hospice care as he really is not adoptable. As of July 2013, he is still doing ok and is managed on several heart medications and supplements. He has strange fainting spells and one of these days, he just will not wake up from them. We are thankful that we have such amazing Foster families who open their homes to these wonderful dogues.
